The weather was nice on Saturday in Mackinaw City, but on Sunday it cooled off dramatically. Still, a number of friends turned out, and sales were up 50%.

(Posted August 21, 2017)
The Wild Blueberry Festival was great this year. I was pleased to meet with and talk to numerous old friends. Plus, I sold and signed 250 books. For me, that is a single even record. Thank you!

(Posted July 6, 2017)
Sorry I had to pull out of Munising's July 4th celebration. I ran out of books! I won't let that happen again.
Sales are double what they were last year at this time. While that is good news, it has not made planning a simple process.

Join me at the West Michigan Home and Garden Show in downtown Grand Rapids (MI) March 3-6. My booth (#1929) will be in the middle of the main hall. I will be introducing my new book, "Ghosts of Cherry Street, and the Cumberbatch Oubliette." This is the first installment (of seven) in my new "Jack's Justice" series. The story is set in three locations—Sugar Island and Soo Sault Marie (both in Michigan's scenic Upper Peninsula), and in Grand Rapids (in the Lower Peninsula).
I will also have with me all seven books in the previous series—"Getting to Know Jack." Stop in and visit me. And enter a drawing for five free print copies of my next book, "Assault on Sugar Island—Suicide by Jihad." When it is available I will post an image of the new book's cover. It is dynamite.

If you like my books, please leave a short five-star review on Amazon. I would appreciate it! (Note: It is not necessary to have purchased the book from Amazon, only to have an Amazon account.) I write a lot of reviews, and this is how I do it. Before I consider a book I start with what I know about the author. Does he/she write on topics that are of interest to me? Is the book in a genre I like? I then look inside the book on Amazon. If not dissuaded after having read a portion of it, I proceed. Once finished, if I did not like the book well enough to give it at least 3 stars overall (with one 5-star element), then I pass on the whole thing. The reviews I write are always 5-star based on the 5-star element(s). Why would I write a 5-star review of a book that might not in every respect be fully worthy of a Hemingway review? Because, I understand that no author becomes successful without a following, and no author obtains a following on the basis of reviews. All a positive review does is help a good author attract a one-time reader. What the author does with a reader from that point on is totally on his shoulders.

When is the next Jack book coming out? –by Mario on August 19. Finally there is a new author who will challenge the likes of Michael Connelly and David Baldacci. In this latest mystery, Sugar Island (in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula) is used as a fitting backdrop to the wild action. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and kept coming back to it whenever I had the free time. The characters were really good. Connelly and Baldacci should approve—by Dave on August 10, 2013. If you like James Patterson and Michael Connelly, you'll love Michael Carrier. Carrier has proven that he can hang with the best of them (seriously- we're talking Patterson and Connelly) with his newest book. It has all of the great, edge-of-your-seat action and suspense that you'd expect in a good thriller, and it kept me guessing to the very end. Fantastic read with an awesome detective duo.
